Covid-19 Bomb ticking in Odisha: 100 have n-CoV symptoms, 45 in hospital isolation!

 

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government today presented a realistic scenario of the Covid-19 in the State. The big worrying numbers are as many as 100 individuals with some Covid-19 symptoms identified in Odisha. And the hospital isolation cases posted a sharp spike to touch 45 on Tuesday.

Such worrying stats have surfaced, when in his regular briefing on Covid-19 today, Subroto Bagchi, Covid-19 chief spokesperson, painted a gory novel coronavirus canvas for the State.

Quoting a study by US group, Bagchi said the Covid-19 challenge is quite enormous. The conservative projection is total Covid-19 positive cases in Odisha may rise to 2,345 by mid- May. And the realistic estimate is very scary. It says the total Covid-19 positive cases in the State may zoom to touch a massive 36,000 by May 15, he pointed out.

The numbers are quite daunting. We have to take the responsibility, said Bagchi and appealed the people to not take the lockdown lightly. He, however, expressed satisfaction that the lockdown in Odisha has been 90 per cent successful.

Meanwhile, as per the latest Covid-19 bulletin released by State Health Department, the total tests conducted till 12 PM today stood at 110. No new positive cases detected today. It added that 100 returnees from abroad have exhibited some covid-19 symptoms. And the State nodal cell is keeping a close observation on the individuals.

Another big information the bulletin revealed is, both the Covid-19 patients in Odisha have turned asymptomatic.

Other major decisions announced:

*All construction activities in State suspended, except Corona related works.

*In order to keep the administration on toes, State government today asked all transferred officials to report to duty within 48 hours. Those who will not follow the directive will face penal action.

*The total foreign returnees registered in State’s newly launched Covid-19 portal touched 3,861.
